I share a newly refurbished house with Bernie Sacco who lives on the first floor. I find the situation very helpful.
Not being a member of a specific community I am more conscious of being a member of the Provincial community. As a number of us live singly in Bute Gardens, we are near enough to exchange news and views and give each other support when needed. Wellsprings also provides a wider group for relaxation.
Having spent my whole working life in education in schools, a College of Education and as Schools R.E. Advisor in the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle, I am now retired, and work in the Provincial Archives at Roehampton for two days a week. There have been major changes this year involving moving and reorganising archival material into two rooms, thus freeing a large room for Provincial events.
I am currently researching the origin and development of the High School at Hammersmith between the years 1894 and 1975. Much has been done on the early history of the site, but little on the development of the present school from its earliest days.
In my spare time I enjoy gardening, bird watching, local history and knitting.
Living in Bute Gardens is convenient for both provincial events and for the Archives, as well as being the home of six RSCJ, not to mention the Provincial Bursars Office and the Provincial House. One feels that one is living at the centre of the Province!
