The Feast of the Sacred Heart July 1st 2011

A Very Happy Feast to everybody.  Here are some extracts from this year’s readings for the Feast, and two sayings of St. Madeleine Sophie, which you might find helpful.

“God’s love for us was revealed when God sent into the world his only Son so that we might have life in him………

………….God is love and those who live in love live in God, and God lives in them…………

………………My dear people, since God has loved us so much we too should love one another.”

From St. John’s first letter 4.7 – 16.

Jesus exclaimed ‘I bless you Father, Lord of heaven and of earth, for hiding these things from the learned and the clever and revealing them to mere children………

…………….Come to me all you who labour and are overburdened and I will give you rest.   Shoulder my yoke and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Yes, my yoke is easy and my burden light.’

Matthew 11.25 – 30.

“There is room for all in that wide wound in the Heart of Jesus, but its secret depths are for the little and lowly ones.”

“We suffer the pain of our peoples. With them, and from this depth, we enter into the Open Heart of Christ, the wellspring that satisfies our thirst.”
